You would like a refund because it looks like you were charged too much at first glance?
If you were charged for the time you booked in advance, although you expected to pay only for the actual usage time, you should first check the terms of use of your car-sharing provider.
What is the fixed price?
In the pay-as-you-book model, the time booked by a driver is used to calculate the final amount due.
Example:
Jim books a vehicle on Monday for Friday afternoon from 3 pm to 5 pm.
He arrives at 3:10 pm, unlocks the vehicle and starts his trip.
He ends the trip at 4:10 pm and ends the booking.
Total amount to be paid = 2 hours
Why do sharing providers use the fixed price?
We all want a vehicle to be available when we need one.
Therefore, users should avoid blocking a vehicle for a much longer period of time than they actually need it.
Studies have shown that users specify the planned usage time much more accurately when every booked hour is also billed.
Preferred:
Driver A needs a vehicle from 9:30 to 11:30 → Driver A books from 9:00 to 12:00
Not preferred:
Driver B needs a vehicle from 9:30 to 11:30 → but books from 8:00 to 16:00 just to make sure nobody else takes it and to keep flexibility — since he only pays for what he uses.
