In which countries are the sharing vehicles insured?
You can generally drive a BARshare vehicle anywhere as long as you do not exceed the available booking period and ensure the ability to recharge the vehicle if necessary. Your BARshare vehicle is also insured abroad. However, since some countries have specific regulations and requirements for e-car sharing and the associated charging infrastructure, please contact us before your trip at [email protected] and inform us about your planned destination. This allows us to verify if there are any specific conditions for your trip. Additionally, a "Green Card" (now white) is available in the glove compartment, serving as proof of insurance coverage abroad in case of a traffic check or accident.
Is a second driver insured? If so, what conditions must they meet?
- No, second drivers are generally not insured.
- An additional insurance in the form of "passenger insurance" only exists for drivers in the "melchowmobil e.V." team at the Melchow location.

BARshare user video – How it works:
Main user-secondary user principle:
BARshare follows the so-called main user-secondary user principle. Main users are companies, municipalities, administrations, or associations who use the vehicles during the day as service vehicles. Main users may have fixed time slots during which private individuals cannot access the vehicles. These times can be found in the respective vehicle availability. Secondary users are anyone who can book the vehicles mainly in the afternoon, evening, and on weekends. There are also vehicles available that can be booked 24/7 by anyone.
Location Eberswalde Pfeilstraße/Weidendamm:
- If the charging process cannot be activated (no blue light), the alternative is to use the charging stations of the emobility charging network Barnim at the back of the parking garage (1-minute drive)
PIN assignment/changes (for vehicle opening security):
- Go to Start in the app
- On the screen, click on “Notifications” - Assign/change PIN
