The platform supports a secured direct debit procedure, which checks the authorization to use an IBAN.

Steps:

  1. You will be asked to select your online banking

  2. You select the appropriate account

  3. This direct debit account will be assigned to your user account.

Can I simply enter my IBAN?

No, this insecure procedure is no longer enabled for your protection and the protection of others.

Why does the platform use this secure method?

The use of an IBAN is very simple.

Therefore, fraudsters can provide bank data of public institutions, companies or private individuals during a registration.

Once a payment is then made, the account of an uninvolved third party is debited.

This should be prevented to protect the providers and also to protect the uninvolved.

Is it safe?

Yes, this verification method is secure and complies with SEPA Direct Debit regulations enforced across the European Union. You authorize payments through a secure mandate system.

How much does it cost?

Nothing! You do not incur any costs and there are no fees. You can see this on the screen shots at the bottom of this article.

Will any test charges be made to my account?

No. Unlike some other verification methods, Stripe does not make test deposits or charges to verify your bank account for SEPA Direct Debit payments. You simply provide your IBAN and accept a payment mandate.

How does the payment process work?

When you make a payment via SEPA Direct Debit, the funds are not transferred immediately. Payment processing typically takes 5 business days to complete. This is normal for SEPA Direct Debit transactions and is due to the banking processing times across the SEPA zone.

Can I see this in my online banking?

Yes, once a payment is initiated, you will see the debit in your online banking after it has been processed by your bank (typically within 5 business days).

What is the process?

When you want to use SEPA Direct Debit as a payment method and add your bank account:

  1. You will be asked to enter your IBAN (International Bank Account Number)

  2. You must accept a mandate - this is a legal authorization that allows the platform to debit your account

  3. Stripe, our secure payment service provider, processes this information

  4. Your bank account details will then be saved as a payment method in your platform account

Below you will see screenshots of the process for orientation.

After your bank connection has been confirmed, you will find it in your platform account as a payment method.
